The following outline is a guideline of qualification and requirement for referee rank promotion.
Qualifications:
- Referees must be 16 years and older, red belt and higher.
- Referees must have trained in Taekwondo and understand the competition rules.
Requirement:
- Referees must read and sign the CUTA Referee Code of Conduct.
- Referees must attend referee seminar scheduled by the CUTA at least once a year.
- Referees must referee minimum of 4 tournaments per year.
- Referees will be advanced one rank for every two tournaments they officiated.
Ranking System:
- Regional Level: D-3, D-2, D-1
- State Level: C-3, C-2, C-1
- National Level B: B-3, B-2, B-1
- National Level A: A-3, A-2, A-1
Compensation:
- Compensation to be based on ranking stated above.
- Each tournament: D = $35 C = $50 B = $65 A = $80
- Compensation is subject to change.
Certification:
- Certification of Rank will be issued upon meeting all criteria stated above.
ID Badges & Referee Attire:
- A CUTA ID Badge will be issued with their names and Ranks imprinted on the badge.
- A CUTA Referee Tie will be issued to all certified referees.
- A CUTA Referee Blazer will be issued to Referees C Rank & Higher. (Tie + Blazer)
- A CUTA Referee Shoes will be issued to Referees B & A Rank. (Tie + Blazer + Shoe)
Important Note: The CUTA will recognize the Referee Ranks & Certifications issued by the USA Taekwondo (USAT) and the former United States Taekwondo Union (USTU). A CUTA compatible rank will be issued to those certificate holders. Please register with the CUTA and submit a copy of your certificate.
